A CMS Web Site's Functional Areas

Draft 1.0.2: a very incomplete list of 3rd party add-ons by FAs for 3 different CMS Types

ABSTRACT

CMS Types considered here are: Joomla, Drupal, Wordpress

Functional Areas (FAs) considered here are: "many," but not all, yet possibly all generic, almost all fairly common-place and eventually all the most needed or wanted for most or almost all CMS-powered "information and organizational services providing" web sites.

Missing from here are: links to future companion web pages with VEN-diagram like graphics and these "generic" CMS functional area names re-listed.  Each (named node and ven sub-set circle around it) would (will) graphically demonstrate some but not all possible interactions (i.e. usefully intersecting sub-sets) of what I am calling generic CMS site FAs with other generic CMS FAs, some interactions which may create increasingly better (more feature-rich 2+ merged/inter-working FAs) and/or much wanted, terribly hard to find, ever so much harder to program yourself -- and possibly unique -- special purpose FAs for a political party's web site or set of 2+ web sites!  In other words, such graphic charts of FAs might get a web site planner(s)' imagination running better.

They might even inform and inspire would-be web site content managers and developers to understand and become better able to provide constructive criticisms of the existing abilities and any remaining limitations of the web sites' with which they intend to plan-to-add, the web site(s)' content.  FIX_ME=> Provide some (but not yet all) of the typical site content categories.  Some (but not all) typical content management functions are: to identify and keep up-to-date all known wanted or imagined most useful site content and a prioritized first (or next) of most-needed site content categories and (perhaps) a "want-list" of the contents for each category in that master list of content categories (and the extracted first/next most needed content lists). Some (but not all) typical content development and staffer content maintenance functions are:To add site content categories to the site, possibly rename them as directed; to help plan, develop, refine and add content to the web site; to put the added or revised or duplicated site content in the correct site content category (-ies), be they only 1 or several categories; (and for site content searching-and-retrieval diversity of relevant content) to index, perhaps with multiple indicies, to tag, possibly with multiple types of tag sets, and to otherwise maintain that site content "appropriately" for the organization's overall and day to day operational goals (i.e. the Glossary Link GPCA), for the ease of access and use of all the party offices or departments or committees or working groups stakeholders, be they: content  publishers, reviewers, editors or authors, provide the same for the content editors, the original authors and the principle off-site (not party staff or volunteer) content stakeholders and all the intended end-user audience types of the different types of web site content (i.e. where this base of more-to-most often-using site content users are the web site's logged in users, not-logged in site visitors and, increasingly for the education and coordination of the green party members at large. (E.g. reviewers and/or editors might revise existing (i.e. published) site content or duplicate existing content to revise it in a proposed next draft of it; they also might add the new or revised content to multiple content categories, retire (un-publish) the content and then archive and re-index it the archive(s).)
